Since launching I’m always asked, what are the first steps in bid writing? The good news is, this is exactly the kind of question I love!
If you’re looking to start winning work with clients like councils, schools, universities and the NHS, then there are a few steps I recommend to everyone.
Start with rolling up your sleeves and having a practice, looking for any gaps you need to fill and getting stuck in.
With an average win rate of one in three, you shouldn’t be waiting for the perfect bid before you start, as the odds will be stacked against you my friend.
That’s where the Starting Out Service was born.
It starts with a chat, usually over a brew, to get to know the types of clients you are hoping to work with. I’ll look at what stage you are at, what support you need and what content you already have. That information is used to create a plan, tailored to getting you the outcome you are looking for.
At ground zero?
So for example if haven’t bid anything before and you’re unsure where to start I might suggest putting processes in place. These will help you identify the bids, review the documents, agree your targets and get one or two submitted to test the water.
Submitted a few already?
If you have started already, the plan will include a review of content and feedback received so far. It will also include a gap analysis of where you might have holes that we can plug and a tailored plan to get you winning.
An extra pair of hands?
Another service I provide is gathering and reviewing bid documents on your behalf, this takes the admin away leaving you to focus on your day job. You can sit back and rely on a tailored report dropping into your inbox, knowing you won’t miss the perfect opportunity for you! This screening can be completed on any frequency that works for you.
Support with key sections
I can also write key sections on your behalf – I’ll take your knowledge and skills and turn them into a winning submission for any topic.
It might be that you’re unsure how to talk about the sustainability of your organisation, what performance measures you have in place to
show the client you’re a safe pair of hands or how risks are assessed on a daily basis so that everyone goes home safe and sound. Either way, you can leave it to me!
Want more free time and to win?
If this sounds like it could give you back some free time, and help win your organisation work, then you’d be right. Message me through the link
below to book in for a no obligation chat, I have an opening for a new client and that could well be you!
